Ceremony
Recessional
The walk back down the aisle after the ceremony concludes
Definition
The recessional is the formal exit of the wedding party back down the aisle at the conclusion of the ceremony, after the couple has been pronounced married. The couple exits first, followed by the wedding party in reverse order of the processional. The recessional music is typically more upbeat and celebratory than the processional. Guests may participate with confetti, bubbles, sparklers, or other send-off elements.
