Garter Toss

Tradition where the groom throws the bride's garter to unmarried guests

Definition

The garter toss is a wedding tradition where the groom removes the bride's garter (a band worn around the bride's thigh) and tosses it to a group of unmarried male guests. The person who catches it is said to be the next to marry. This tradition has declined in popularity in recent years, with many couples choosing to skip it in favor of other reception activities.
